Frequently Asked
The stuff we get asked the most.
Real questions, real answers. If yours isn't here, send it to us.
How young is “young”?
Young is a state of mind. (Yes, we know that's a cop-out — bear with us.) Most young-professional groups land in the 20–40 range, and ours is no different.
But the room is open. We're not in the business of carding people at networking events. If you're driven, ambitious, and building something here, you belong.
What kind of businesses tend to show up?
Tech, finance, engineering, sales, real estate, employee benefits, hospitality, healthcare, founders, operators, creatives — the works. Mixed rooms beat siloed ones. The realtor sitting next to the surgeon next to the engineer is the whole point.
Are college students welcome?
Absolutely. SWFLYP is one of the best places to start building your network beyond campus — and the network you build now is the one you'll be calling on in five years. Show up, find someone doing the thing you want to do, and ask better questions than the next person does. (Bring curiosity, not pitches.)
Where do you host your events?
All over SWFL. Fort Myers one month, Bonita Springs the next, Naples the one after that. We rotate venues every month so that — no matter where in Southwest Florida you live — the room comes to you eventually. Each event's venue and address is on the events page.
Is this true networking, or more of a BNI-type thing?
True networking. We believe people do business with people they know, like, and trust — not with people they feel forced to do business with to hit a weekly referral quota.
No leads-circle. No pitch round-robin. No required reciprocity. Show up, meet good people, follow your curiosity. The business follows.
What actually happens at a monthly event?
Honestly, whatever you make of it. Show up. Grab a drink. Find a conversation that interests you. Some people swap numbers and follow up the next week. Some people just enjoy the vibe and recharge before Monday. There's no agenda card on the table — we don't do those.
